Roberto Mancini wants to stay at Man City for a long time

The 46-year-old Manchester City manager, Roberto Mancini, has declared he wants to stay at the club for “another three or four years”.

The Italian manager, who succeeded Mark Hughes in December 2009, has less than two years left on his contract. Yet after guiding Manchester City to their first trophy success in 35 years by winning the FA Cup last season, he further strengthened his position by leading them into the Champions League.

With Manchester City now top of the Premier League, having made their best league start since 1897, the Italian has also boosted his power base over his handling of Carlos Tevez’s alleged refusal to come on as a substitute against Bayern Munich last month.

“I started to work here two years ago, I have worked hard to build a good team,” Mancini said.

“I would like to stay here another three or four years because I think at this moment Manchester City is one of the best clubs in the world.”

Roberto Mancini also shared his belief that Manchester City could still top their Champions League group as long as they can kickstart their campaign with a first win at home as Manchester City vs Villarreal on Tuesday night.
